‘Notorious’ makes it official: Jose Aldo vs. Conor McGregor set for UFC 189 in July
LAS VEGAS – It’s official: [autotag]Conor McGregor[/autotag] will go after [autotag]Jose Aldo[/autotag]’s featherweight title in July at UFC 189.
McGregor (17-2 MMA, 5-0 UFC) led off his fan Q&A at Friday’s UFC 183 weigh-ins with the announcement, saying he had just finalized his deal to fight Aldo (25-1 MMA, 7-0 UFC) for the champ’s 145-pound belt.
UFC 189 takes place July 11 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas as part of “International Fight Week.” Although an official statement of main-event status was not announced, the bout is likely to serve as the headliner on the pay-per-view main card.
